Oh, Innernets, how I've missed you. I feel like I've been away all summer, and now it's back to school, and I don't know where to begin telling you about everything that happened.
Or something like that.
Halloween was divine. Buttercup was a Butterfly Ballerina Fairy Princess. And her dad was A Pirate on a Job Interview.
She is shooting red hot lasers from her eyes at the kid who tried to take an extra Twix from the bucket.
Yeah - it was time to go home.
Then last weekend, Lila and her mom threw us the most perfect baby shower with delicious food and beautiful flowers and top-shelf wine. That is a perk of having a shower without being pregnant.
And our yet-to-be-met girl got some of the yummiest baby clothes you've ever seen. Ever.
And now I am getting anxious because I really, really, REALLY thought we would have heard something about our travel approval before now. But still there is nothing. Tick-tock.
As of this week, she is the age that our Buttercup was when we met her. Tick-TOCK.
Oh, Innernets, I have fallen so far behind in my reportage of my dull little life.
I haven't told you about how we joined the parent/teacher-type club at Bee's school thinking we'd help bake cupcakes and plan the spring carnival only to discover that we had aligned ourselves with an angry mob of minivan-driving revolutionaries. Viva La Multipurpose Room!
I haven't told you about my job and all the fun stuff that happens there, and how kooky and hilarious my coworkers are and how I soent a legitimate part of my workday enjoying an exhibit of artifacts created by Native American women.
I haven't told you that I'm trying to pull together some essays and columns and craft a query letter to send to the agent of a colleague from my former paper.
I haven't told you about the snow we had, nor about how today was so gloriously warm that it felt like August in Upstate New York (in other words, one long-sleeved sweater was sufficient).
But you should know that, even though I've been keeping my own mouth shut, I have been keeping up with you. And I miss you.
Welcome back BB.
